Twenty-five years ago I started in this profession. I knew even then that I didn't want to be a beauty therapist selling creams. I wanted to understand the skin — at a cellular level.
In 2009 I opened my own clinic: Mijn Huidspecialist. Today, over 6,000 treatments later, I know one thing for certain: there is a vast gap between what beauty therapists are taught and what dermatologists know. And in that gap, thousands of talented professionals disappear — undervalued, under-trained and underpaid.
